Terms of service

Last updated 10 October 2026

These terms cover your use of InstaVal. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable. If something here is unclear, email us and ask.

What InstaVal is

InstaVal produces an estimated valuation for a small business, built from public information and published industry benchmarks. It is a starting point for a conversation about what a business might be worth.

What it is not

An estimate is not an appraisal. It is not prepared by a certified appraiser, it does not follow appraisal standards, and it should not be used where an appraisal is required — including for lending, tax, litigation, or formal financial reporting.

It is not financial, legal, or tax advice. We are not your broker, accountant, attorney, or financial adviser. Talk to one before making a decision that matters.

It is not a guarantee of price. What a business actually sells for depends on things no public data can see — the reason for selling, the terms, the buyer, the lease, the moment. Our estimate does not account for any of them.

Accuracy

We work to make estimates sound and we show the inputs behind them, but we cannot promise any estimate is correct. Estimates are produced from public information that may be incomplete or out of date, and from answers you provide that we take at face value. You use them at your own risk.

If you think an estimate for your business is wrong, tell us. We would rather hear it than not.

Using the service

Use InstaVal for its purpose, and not to break the law, to disrupt the service, to scrape it wholesale, or to request valuations for businesses with the intent to mislead their owners. If you create an account, you are responsible for what happens under it.

We may change or discontinue the service, and we may decline to serve anyone misusing it.

Your business information

What you tell us about your business stays yours. We do not list your business for sale, publish your valuation, or sell your information. The privacy policy describes exactly what we hold and what we do with it.

Liability

InstaVal is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of an estimate — including a business sold for less, or not sold, than you expected.

Changes

We will update these terms as the service changes, and the date at the top will say when. Continuing to use InstaVal after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
